Solarfall's Testimony
“Solarfall, we are trying to figure out who ate all the new treats. Can you tell me your whereabouts this evening?”
“My what?”
“Where were you tonight?”
“Um, I was outside for a while.”
“How long is a while? Were you in the kitchen at all?”
“What? Does this mean you think I did it?” Solarfall exclaimed. “I’m a trotter, there’s no way I could have even jumped up onto the counter!”
“Calm down, we just want to hear your alibi.”
“What’s an ‘alibi?’”
“It’s your defense or excuse that proves you didn’t commit the crime.”
“Oh. Well, I did mention that I’m a trotter, right? Is that an alibi?”
“Not exactly, but it does help your case.”
“You still think I did it? I really didn’t. I promise,” Solarfall asserted nervously.
“Did you notice anything suspicious tonight?”
“Hmm...Uh, now that you mention it, I do think I heard some noises and clattering coming from the kitchen while I was out in the yard.”
“Anything else?”
“I-I don’t think so. I mean, yes. No. Nothing else. Do I need a lawyer?”
“Just don’t leave town, okay?”
