Collection Updates

New decks have been added to the gallery pages. Without further ado, here’s a breakdown of what’s been added, its category, and my initial impressions upon unboxing.

Faunabelle Tarot Animals and Nature. This deck features simple, whimsical illustrations designed for a young audience. The cardstock and packaging are excellent.

Canes Arcanae and Faeles Arcanae Tarots Animals and Nature. These decks are exquisitely illustrated with dog and cat characters. Delightful for those who prefer cards with animals rather than human figures!

Dark Waite TarotRider Waite Inspired. A macabre twist on the Rider Waite, this Tarot is an RWS clone with a fresh flare and evocative use of color. The sense of movement and emotion from the characters gives it some extra vitality.

Heart & Hands TarotMisc. The imagery in the pips may not be as memorable as those found in other decks, and the stark black and white could be a bit of an eye strain for large spreads, but this deck still has something to offer, especially if you like modern details. The figures have a lot of personality!

Notoria: Tarot in LightGothic. The kickstarter edition for Fabio Listrani’s companion to Goetia: Tarot in Darkness. As always, a deck from Listrani is thoughtful, detailed, and expressive. I’m a huge fan of Listrani’s work, and I love the refreshing masculine vibe from his decks.

Santa Muerte TarotGothic. I was able to snag a limited edition version of this deck with my Notoria pledge on Kickstarter! There’s a lot of life in the skeletal characters that adorn this deck, and the colors are very rich. The court cards are also amazing, just as they are in Listrani’s Night Sun Tarot.

Arcana Mortis TarotGothic. Speaking of skeletal characters – if you love tastefully dark and artistic skeletal decks, the Arcana Mortis is one to check out!

Wee William Witchling TarotGothic. This Kickstarter find is a deck and book combination – the plot and characters of the novel are the theme of the deck. I personally hadn’t seen this concept since The Tarot of the Elves, and I was eager to support this art and writing project. If you enjoyed the Tarot of the Elves, you should take a gander at this one!

The Nameless One Tarot & OracleOccult. This deck is a full Tarot as well as an oracle (so it’s BIG). It came with a hardcover tome that is probably the most impressive companion book in my entire card collection. Stunning artwork accompanies beautifully crafted sigils on every card. This deck is absolutely incredible from the art style, to the concept, to the packaging, and the additional materials. I placed it in the occult section of my Tarot collection for the use of sigils, and additional images of some of the oracle cards can be found in the miscellaneous section of the oracle deck collection page.

Epitaffio OracleMisc. A Kickstarter deck that features the work of various artists. There is a fair amount of stylistic variation, so your mileage may vary. I tend to be wary of decks with multiple artists for this reason, but I was so delighted to see some men in an oracle deck, I just had to back it. Overall, I’d say if you like anime/manga style decks, you will probably enjoy most of the imagery in this one.

Dreamscape OracleCultures, Civilizations, Mythology, and Folklore. A lovely companion to the Ethereal Visions Tarot, this deck is a slim, but pleasing oracle with the typical fare of beautiful women and some animals. The color palette is very soothing, and it was nice to see some racial diversity!

Medieval Fortune Telling CardsFortune Telling. A reproduction of a historical deck, the Medieval Fortune cards are a great collectible deck for playing card oracle enthusiasts. The box and cardstock were decent for this one – better than I expected for one of Lo Scarabeo’s less heavily marketed releases.

The Nameless One Tarot & OracleMisc. View a sampling of the oracle section of this deck in the miscellaneous category of the oracle gallery.
